Real-time processing video diagnostic for the Wendelstein 7-X and JT-60SA fusion experiments
For the Wendelstein 7-X stellarator experiment the Wigner Research Centre for Physics, Budapest developed and installed an overview video diagnostic system. With 10 views and special cameras it intends to combine slow monitoring of the plasma shape with fast recognition of increased plasma-wall interaction and some physics measurements. The system successfully operated in the first campaign of W7-X and demonstrated viability of the unique real-time processing camera concept. A similar system is being considered as one possible European contribution to the joint EU-Japan JT-60SA experiment which is due to start operation in 2019.
